cody6I love it when people have "mad" skills. And one person who takes having skills to a level higher than the atmosphere is survival expert Cody Lundin!

Cody survived in the desert on his own for two years. He lived in a make shift shelter, ate off the land and cooked over an open fire. We are talking
about a man who has skills more crafted than a glass blower.

Cody is an inspiration on the art of self-reliance, and he teaches others, "The more you know, the less you need." I love this! And it's a fact that knowledge is power and with knowledge comes the ability to survive with less.

obscurWhat is it about the unusual and bizarre that people love? Is it the unknown, the mystery or just plain curiosity? I being the lover of all things bizarre and unusual had to sit down and chat with the good folks from the show Oddities on Discovery Channel.

Oddities is a show about an antique shop, but not just any antique shop! Obscura Antiques and Oddities is a place where the bizarre, old, and unusual mix under one roof. From taxidermy, to skulls, to ancient medical equipment, this one stop shop of curiosity has to be scene to believe.

Inside the doors of this peculiar shop you’ll find Evan, Mike and Ryan. Evan is the cutest of the three, she is a pint size power house of information on the old and unusual. Be careful of this little lady, she might just make you fall in love with a straightjacket!

Then there is Mike. A friendly, off beat man with a story to tell on every item in the store. This is one person that can deliver a first rate, history lesson on the weird and wild that I guarantee you have never heard before.

As for Ryan, in true mysterious fashion he eluded us the day of our visit; however we will catch up with him later on CIM.

Oddities was a thrill for team Kode and the crew of CIM. And if we had to come up with one word to describe the Obscura folks, the store and the merchandise, it would have to be, anomalous!

We suggest you check out Oddities on the Science Channel or visit Mike and Evan at their store, Obscura Antiques and Oddities.  You won’t be disappointed!

DisastersDon’t get stuck in the dating rut, let me the Chick Gab Chick help you climb to the surface with my list of dating disasters to avoid. Dating can be like walking blindfolded on a busy New York street. But worry not because I am here to remove that blinder and give you the insight you need to avoid the dreadful dating pitfalls.

1. Coming On To Strong: Being a strong man is one thing but being over aggressive and pushy is a whole other. Being a mans man is great but assuming you are meant to go down in the history books as one of the greatest men to walk the earth is a deadly dating disaster. Never forget your date is your equal and as such treat them as one. Never be over aggressive and demanding, never assume you will make it to first base, and never ever run when you know it’s all about the walk. Coming on to strong is a huge turn off for women, we love when men are present and confidant, but we hate egotistical and pushy. So sit back take your time and let nature do the rest. Being over aggressive and coming on to strong will make your date wish for a life in the convent void of any chance of a relationship with a man.

Long SleevesA friend of mine who I will call Albert recently told me of a date and a dilemma. See this chap was going on a date during a heat wave with temperatures hovering somewhere in the nineties. This chap was also taking his lady friend to an establishment where no shoes, no shirt, means no service and a trip to the cop shop. We are talking about fine dinning at its best and worthy of a presidential visit.

So, what does a guy wear when weather dictates your wardrobe? My suggestion was simple. Short sleeves are not only expectable in today’s society they are preferred. Long gone are the days of long sleeves and edict.

2.  Dress For The Job You Want. This is so true, if you want endless dates present yourself as a person “who has endless dates.” This means having confidence in your ability as a datable bloke or dame. You have to be in it to win. Unleash your full potential, have some stagger to your walk and some backbone. By nature people flock to confidence like they do to a winning lottery ticket. If you think you can have endless dates, you will have endless dates.

Endless Dates 1. Just Ask. Never be afraid to ask for the date. So many times women are willing and ready to go on that first date or even a second, but so many times men let the fear of rejection stand in their way. Be like a sales person and ask for the sale. Just ASK!!! You can’t win if you don’t play.

You have to be in it to win. Unleash your full potential, have some stagger to your walk and some backbone. Women flock to confidence like they do to Coach purses. If you think you can have endless dates, you will have endless dates.
