What inspired you to become a chef?

I practically grew up at Carlo’s bakery, watching my dad making pastries for the store and decorating cakes. So many of my childhood memories took place in the kitchen. I think my career was a natural fit.

What was the biggest struggle making it in this business?

One of the hardest parts is the hard work and long hours, especially around the holidays. Luckily I’ve got the whole famiglia here to pitch in.

Who is your chef hero?

My parents are my two biggest heroes. They both worked in the baking business for many years and really inspired me to make Carlo’s what it is today.

What is your favorite thing that you make?

That’s hard! I really love the lobster tails. They’re amazing!

What can you tell others striving to make it as a chef?

Don’t ever give up on your dreams. You can accomplish anything with hard work, dedication and passion.

What are your dreams, where does your career go from here?

I’ve got some big plans for 2012. Carlo’s Bakery is offering cooking, baking, and decorating classes this year, which will be a fun challenge. I just want to continue working to bring a piece of Carlo’s to our fans. I love being able to reach out to people and inspire them to learn a new skill.
